Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving is a big deal at our house. Both of the girls get to pick out their own pattern for carving. They get to help make the pattern on the pumpkin and then both Navjoat and I work on carving it out. This year, Marissa picked a difficult pattern that took 2 1/2 hours to carve and another 1/2 hour to clean up the edges. Unfortunately, since we have never carved something so intricate, we did not know how quickly it would deteriorate. You can't even tell what it is now. I guess, lesson learned. Jolene picked out a kitty pattern, since that is what she is dressing as this year. Here are some pictures of our fun evening.

Ours totally fell the next day after we carved them. I was informed by a neighbor that you have to put them in the refrigerator until Halloween if you don't want them to sink! I love that kitty cat one...way too cute!
